To-Do list for the 'boot-floppies' package

OPEN BUGS WE CARE ABOUT
-----------------------

o debootstrap bugs
o #127634 (nano not really suited for editing sources.list)

PROBLEMS RECENTLY FIXED IN BASE
-------------------------------

o all kernels need CONFIG_FILTER=y and CONFIG_PACKET={m,y}; if not on
  a kernel for your archive, please file an RC bug against that kernel

o PowerMac *must* be built using a kernel-image with
  CONFIG_MAC_ADBKEYCODES=n kernel-image-2.2.19-pmac 2.2.19-3.1 is fine

URGENT PROBLEMS
---------------

o all bugs at level 'serious' or 'important'

o i18n for other arches that can support it -- porters, please try it!
  You just need to edit rootdisk.sh and config.

o perhaps refine our fstab mounting options, see
  http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/securing-debian-howto/ch4.en.html;
  most of the other stuff there would only apply to base-config at best

o normal file:/ archive installs might be broken

o Alpha todo:
  * Try to find working milo binaries
  * document srmbootfat requirement somewhere
  * fix netboot
  * test nautilus
  * test jensen
  * try readding system map?
  * get PCMCIA working (requires pcmcia-modules-* packages)

GENERAL REMAINING TASKS FOR WOODY
---------------------------------

o documentation review

o [12/18/2001, aph] Adaptive language inclusion on the root disks
  according to remaining size; this will require some logic for
  rootdisk.sh but I think it's going to be a lot easier than ongoing
  tuning per per arch, per subarch

o SiteROCK automation patches
  David Kimdon is evaluating -- I think he accepted some stuff at least

o It might be nice (for both mountted and harddisk) to
  look for the dir '/debian' or '/archive/debian', and if they are
  there, use that for the default.

o [12/12/2001, claush] Add info on official Debian DVD to release-notes
  and Installation Manual.

o Powermac booting:
  * setup more OpenFirmware variables, 'load-base' perhaps
  * CHRP needs testing.
  * [powermac] include bootx/bootvars in non-proprietary format.
