During the last months, the whole power management stack changed
completely. Most functionality which was provided by powersaved in the
past moved to HAL, pm-utils and the desktop applets such as kpowersave and
gnome-power-manager. There's a complete split between policy and
mechanism. Mechanism is provided by the lower level applications such as
HAL and pm-utils and policy is enforced by the desktop applets and
powersaved.

The Powersave Daemon is some kind of policy decision maker for servers
or just for systems where no nice graphical user interface like
kpowersave or gnome-power-manager is available. It also sets the
initial power management settings on booting, before another policy
decision maker starts up.

Due to the changes, the following config files got removed:

  /etc/powersave/scheme_advanced_powersave
  /etc/powersave/scheme_presentation
  /etc/powersave/scheme_acoustic
  /etc/powersave/sleep
  /etc/powersave/disk
